If you are starting or growing your side business and you want to build it to a full time income while working a 9-5, it can certainly be challenging to keep up and stay consistent in your business.
I know because I am like the former queen of inconsistency! and struggled with this for years.
Today, I want to share with you 7 tips that have helped me get on track and stay consistent in my business.
1. Move your body
A healthy body healthy mind. Don’t give me the eye roll here.
Take a walk, hit the gym, head out for a run, practice yoga – move your body. It increase your blood flow, lowers blood pressure, improves brain function, improves sleep quality, reduces feelings of anxiety and depression. Basically, it is an all around good for you practice that puts you in a better position to thrive in life and in your business.
Finding clarity on your niche, your offer, you ideal client, and you messaging eliminates confusion and increases your productivity because you know know exactly what you’re doing. When you have clarity, you’re not second guessing, you’re not flip flopping, and you stop wasting your limited time.
There is so many business ideas, opportunities, different strategies…with social media we get a glimpse on how others are running their businesses and its information overload that can become a trap for those who think they have to replicate everything.
Up until this summer, I was running multiple businesses and trying to be visible on multiple platforms which was exhausting and not producing positive results.
Once I simplified my process, my funnel, my on boarding process with my business boot-camp clients, my content strategy – once I cut out the noise, eliminating busy tasks that were not directly related to nurturing my clients or generating revenue, my consistency and productivity increased.
What can you cut out in your process?
4. Create a Routine/Structure
This tip is directly connected to the fact that I simplified how I conduct my business.
When I gained clarity, simplified my processes, I was able to restructure my daily/weekly tasks – what I was working on.
When you don’t have a routine or structure, you are all over the board opening yourself up to overwhelm, burn out, and further from your goal.
You can’t just say you’re going to go to the gym if you don’t know why you’re going to the gym and don’t have a plan for when you get there. Because once you walk in, there are way too many options. You may get a good workout in BUT its not going to help you get results. what does help you get results is if you have a goal, create a routine – over time, you will achieve the results you are after. The routine helps create consistency and essentially results.
We make so many decisions every given day. When you can create a routine, it makes the decision making process so much easier and frees up your mental space.
Eliminating the run around and the busy work that was basically creating chaos not cash.
Having a routine helps you maintain consistency because you know what you are doing every single day.
There’s no confusion. There’s no second guessing. and AND there’s no working when its family time.
5. Minimize. Remove the things that don’t matter to you…
When you do this, remove the things that do not matter to you, you will begin to feel like weight has been lifted off of you.
I mentioned this briefly in #4, when you free up mental space you open yourself up to releasing the burden of the “have tos” – I have to do this, I have to do that and I have to do this…if you know what I’m talking about, pop an emoji in the comments below.
Those “have to’s” really tank your energy. Minimizing all that extra clutter so that you are available to show up in all the areas of your life that are important to you – that matter to you. You will see your consistency improve.
6. Focus on Generating Leads
and gets you results. So that routine, that I mentioned in #4, should involve lead generation activities. A routine that is showing consistent effort to generate revenue into your business is how you are going to start building that pipeline of clients. When results hit, its huge – you finally feel like the work you are putting in is working – you’re on to something. Proof. Evidence that it is working out for you. and you are going to want more of that. you’re going to show up for more of that. Focus on generating leads.
7. Atomic Habits by James Clear
A resource I highly recommend is Atomic Habits by James Clear.
Hands down, it is a great read cover to cover – breaking down how we are truly overthinking everything and how you can create consistency and restructure how you show up every day to achieve your goals.
